Job Description

One-Year Term
Following Presidential Year

The Bylaws as adopted in June, 2002, "Committees," state:

Legislative and Bylaws Committee. This committee shall bring to the attention of the membership all matters of legislation concerning education. The committee shall revise and keep the Bylaws of the Association up to date. The Chairman shall be the Immediate Past President. One member of the committee shall be elected by the Advisory Council.

In addition to the current Job Description for All Elected and Appointed Members of the Board as described in Page 1.00 of this section, the Immediate Past President shall:

  1. Chair the Legislative and Bylaws Committee. The committee shall consist of one member elected by the Advisory Council and the President-Elect. Other committee members may consist of the Past Presidents of EOPO.
  2. Bring matters of legislation concerning education to the attention of the membership.
  3. Review and recommend revisions to the Bylaws every two years. The officer responsible for Bylaws will have taken the office of Immediate Past President in the odd-numbered years. The revision of the Bylaws is to be presented to the membership in the even-numbered years. Recommendations for changes are to be presented to the Board of Directors and membership for approval in accordance with the Bylaws, "Amendments." (This article describes the procedure for submission of amendments to the committee, member balloting by mail, and adoption of the revision.
  4. Review and recommend revisions to the Procedures Manual. The officer responsible for the Procedures Manual will have taken the office of Immediate Past President in the even-numbered years. The revision of the Procedures Manual is to be completed prior to the installation of officers in the odd-numbered years.
  5. Submit articles to local newspapers and write letters to supervisors of new members of the Board announcing the member's won with EOPO, etc.
  6. Serve as EOPO's official delegate to the annual conference of NAEOP upon approval by the Board.
  7. Assume the office of President of the Past Ohio Presidents (POPS) affiliate.
  8. Perform additional duties as assigned by the President and/or the Board of Directors.
