The Bylaws as adopted June, 2002, "Duties of Officers," state:
The President-Elect shall assist the President and in the absence of the President shall discharge the duties of the President; shall be a member of the Board of Directors; shall serve as Historian and keep a scrapbook and a cumulative file of annual reports of all committees; and shall have additional duties as the President may delegate.
In addition to the current Bylaws and the Job Description for All Elected and Appointed Members of the Board as described in Page 1.00 of this section, the President-Elect shall:
- Prepare for the position of President by observing the President.
- Assist the President in any way possible.
- Assume the duties of the President in absence of the President.
- Serve as ex-officio member of the Advisory Council.
- Serve as Historian of the organization.
- Keep a scrapbook, which includes fliers, programs, notes, etc.
- Serve as official photographer. Have pictures developed, place them in an album and make them available for display at conferences.
- Keep a cumulative file of annual reports of all committees.
- Serve as custodian of the camera owned by EOPO.
- Serve as chairperson of trade shows.
- Select persons to serve as appointed chairmen for the upcoming year in consultation with the Nominations and Elections Director.
- Cooperate with the conference chairman in making preparations for the Installation Banquet and the new president's reception. It is the responsibility of the President- Elect to arrange for preparation and printing of the banquet program.
- In cooperation with the Awards Chairman, obtain a plaque and past president's gavel for the outgoing President.
- Plan for a meeting of the Joint Board of Directors meeting held in conjunction with the Spring Conference and after the installation of officers.
- Plan and distribute an agenda in advance of the meeting.
- Plan for an orderly transition of materials from the outgoing board members to the new.
- Plan board-meeting dates for the following year. Arrange for facilities in August, February, and April, and at the conference sites for fall and spring conferences.
- Prepare materials for the joint meeting.
- Prepare to preside over the meeting.
- Serve as vice chair to the Immediate Past President on the committee to review and recommend revisions to the Bylaws every two years. The officer on the Bylaws Committee will have taken the office of President Elect in the odd-numbered years. Bylaws affected by the work of this committee will become effective in the even-numbered years.
- Serve as vice chair to the Immediate Past President on the committee to review and recommend revisions to the Procedures Manual. The officer on the Procedures Manual Committee will have taken the office of President Elect in the even-numbered years. The revision of the Procedures Manual is to be completed prior to the installation of officers in the odd-numbered years.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the President and/or Board of Directors.
