12.00 Newsletter Editor Job Description

The Bylaws as adopted in June, 2002, "Committees," state:

Publications Committee: The Chairman of this committee shall be the editor of and be responsible for publishing The Buckeye Bulletin. The newsletter shall be published quarterly and sent to all members of EOPO and all honorary members. A copy shall be sent to the NAEOP (The NES Connector), the NAEOP Northeast Area Director, and the Alliances.

In addition to the current Job Description for All Elected and Appointed Members of the Board as described in Page 1.00 of this section, the Newsletter Editor shall:

  1. Serve as chairman of the Publications Committee.
  2. Publish the newsletter, The Buckeye Bulletin, quarterly. Bylaws should be published annually in the summer edition.
  3. Solicit articles from members of the Board and the general membership. The editor may want to recruit specific persons to submit articles.
  4. Reserve the right to accept, edit, or reject articles that have been submitted.
  5. Serve as Historian of the organization. Arrange for printing and distributing The Buckeye Bulletin:
    1. Arrange schedule for the year.
    2. Advise the Board of deadlines for submission of articles.
    3. Select a printer convenient to the editor and economical to the Association.
    4. Request mailing labels from the Membership Director at least two (2) weeks in advance of the need for them.
    5. Arrange for mailing by bulk mail.
    6. Mail the newsletter to all members of EOPO, the president of each affiliate, the NAEOP office, and the editor of the official publication of NAEOP, The NES Connector.
  6. Constantly watch for articles, quips, quotes, etc. that could be published in The Buckeye Bulletin. Maintain a file of these items. Acquire permission for using copyrighted material.
  7. Submit articles, pictures and dates of conferences/meetings, if available to The NES Connector. They should be sent to the Editor of The NES Connector at the address listed in that publication.
  8. Perform additional duties as assigned by the President and/or the Board of Directors.
